Kemal Meredov is the first prize winner of the Asian Games in the history of national jujitsu

The sixth day of the XVIII Summer Asia Games has brought another bronze medal to national team. This is the first medal for Turkmenistan in jujitsu competitions in “ne-waza” discipline won at the Asian Games.

Kemal Meredov has distinguished himself in this sports in the weight category up to 56 kg. The quarter-final fight ended up in defeat for our sportsman. However, he confidently won in additional fight against the representative of Uzbekistan.

The final fight for the third place with Mongolian sportsman was very hard. The wrestlers did not yield each other in the skills and activity. In the results, the victory was conferred to Turkmen wrestler by the referees’ judgement. It is worth to mention high level of training of our sportsman as the Mongolian representative is the bronze winner of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat while K. Meredov was the ninth in the tournament table.

Jelilmuhammet Hojamuradov also had chances to win the medals in the weight category up to 69 kg. Having successfully qualified 1/16 and 1/8 of the final, he yieldedin quarter final fight. Additional fight ended up by the victory of our sportsman but in the bronze contest, the referees gave preference to the prize winner of the World Championship. In the result, D. Hojamuradov took the fifth place.

Boxing competitions has also started and the first rounds have taken places already. Our sportsman Hursand Imankuliyev, the prize winner of 2017 Islamic Games and the winner of XXXV Feliks Stamm International Boxing Tournament in Poland, has passed the first round in the weight category up to 60 kg.
