On 2 November 2026, a ceremonial conference was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to mark the awarding of the degree of “Honorary Doctor in the Field of International Relations” by Hacettepe University of the Republic of Turkiye to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as the presentation of the “Strategic Friendship” award by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkiye (DEİK). The event was attended by heads of a number of ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, representatives of state institutions, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye in Turkmenistan, as well as faculty members and students.
During the conference, the consistent development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkiye in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres was highlighted.
Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan’s foreign policy initiatives aimed at strengthening international peace, trust and security, as well as expanding cooperation with the countries of the Turkic world.
It was noted that the awarding of the honorary degree of “Honorary Doctor in the Field of International Relations” by Hacettepe University and the “Strategic Friendship” award by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkiye (DEİK) to the President of Turkmenistan represents recognition of his significant contribution to the development of international cooperation, the strengthening of global peace and security, the creation of favorable conditions for expanding business contacts, as well as the successful implementation of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy based on the principles of permanent neutrality.
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Turkmenistan Shener Cebeci underscored the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation and highlighted the opening of the new Park of Culture of the Turkic States as a symbol of friendship among brotherly peoples.
The participants of the conference emphasized that the achieved level of interstate cooperation creates additional opportunities for implementing joint projects, expanding contacts between relevant institutions and business communities, and further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the ceremonial gathering, an Address to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was adopted, expressing sincere gratitude and congratulations on the occasion of the awarding of the honorary degree by Hacettepe University and the presentation of the “Strategic Friendship” award by DEİK.
