On the 2nd of November, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person, the guest noted that Iran attaches particular importance to the development of relations with neighbouring Turkmenistan. Taking this opportunity, he conveyed warm greetings to the Head of State and Hero-Arkadag from President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian.
Warmly welcoming the diplomat, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing confidence that the current visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister would contribute to the further expansion and strengthening of interstate dialogue, based on longstanding traditions of friendship and brotherhood.
During the meeting, it was noted that the comprehensive development of friendly, mutually respectful and trust-based relations with countries around the world remains one of the consistent priorities of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.
Political and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries, built on the principles of mutual understanding and respect, is successfully developing both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations.
In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the participation of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian in the regular meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council and the Caspian Environmental Summit, held in October this year in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”, emphasizing the constructive nature of the meeting held during the current visit.
In turn, Seyed Abbas Araghchi highlighted the importance of the large-scale events held in Avaza, the outcomes of which made a significant contribution to the further advancement of regional cooperation.
The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of Turkmenistan’s important trade and economic partners, and that cooperation in this area is currently developing effectively.
The cultural and humanitarian sphere represents one of the key areas of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi expressed confidence in the continued development of friendly and good-neighbourly relations between the two brotherly states in all areas of mutual interest, and exchanged best wishes.
