An international media forum was held in the Chinese city of Fuzhou

On the 3rd to 4th of November, the International forum on Media Cooperation «One belt, one road – 2026» was held in Fuzhou, People’s Republic of China. More than 170 media representatives from around the world took part in it, including from the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The opening ceremony of the forum included speeches by the leadership of the PRC, event organisers, and media representatives.

The speakers described the work being carried out within the framework of the «One Belt, One Road» concept, aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and achieving common goals.

As noted, the «One Belt, One Road» concept proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 has received a positive response from the international community. Having gone beyond the scope of a Chinese initiative, it has in practice become a major, promising program of international significance, which has now acquired a wide scope.

The goal of this initiative is to stimulate international trade and investment projects involving numerous countries and using the resources of interested states. In this context, the essence of the strategy of Turkmenistan to revive the Great Silk Road in a modern format, laid down on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and consistently implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is completely consistent with the «One belt, one road» strategy of China. As a result of this work, our country is implementing major projects of international significance in the oil and gas, electric power, automotive, maritime, river, aviation, and railway sectors.

The projects implemented by Turkmenistan and China within the framework of these strategies are numerous and large-scale. All of them are aimed at the successful development of transport and logistics links at a modern level in order to achieve the well-being of countries and their peoples, as well as to strengthen relations of friendship and brotherhood. The main principles are equality, consideration of the interests of partners, mutual benefit, and respect for the diversity of cultural and spiritual values.

At the end of the ceremony, the Fuzhou Initiative for media cooperation under the «One belt, one road» concept was adopted.

In the afternoon of the same day, the forum continued its work in the form of discussions. Particular attention was paid to regional media cooperation. The possibilities of establishing and developing multilateral partnerships for the implementation of joint projects were discussed.

The speakers emphasised the advisability of joint work between media representatives from different countries, including the use of modern digital information systems, to explain to the general public the significance and role of the «One belt, one road» initiative. Attention was also focused on the fact that ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information provided is becoming one of the main tasks of our time.

Journalists, correspondents, and commentators from around the world arrived in Fuzhou to discuss news production principles and priorities of their countries, using cutting-edge technologies. During the conversation, foreign journalists were informed about the large-scale activities launched in Turkmenistan in this area thanks to the care and efforts of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as about the excellent conditions created in the «smart» city of Arkadag. These stories aroused deep interest in our country and a desire to visit it. Foreign colleagues noted that they dream of seeing the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag with their own eyes.

The main goal of this large-scale event, organized by the editorial staff of the «People's Daily» newspaper, one of the largest and leading publications in the PRC, was to familiarise participants with the experience of China in the information sphere and discuss prospects for further cooperation.

On the second day of the forum, «the Silk Road Prize for International Communication» ceremony took place, including screenings of the award-winning documentaries.

The main work of the International forum on media cooperation «One Belt, One Road - 2026» has concluded. The cultural program for delegates from over 100 countries includes a tour of the «Panda world» in Fuzhou, traditional boat rides along the inland rivers of the city, and a visit to the historic Yantai Mountains.
