In January-October of the current year, athletes of Turkmenistan won a total of 179 gold, 188 silver and 223 bronze medals at international competitions. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov at a meeting of the Government, at which the results of the socio-economic development of the country for the ten months of 2026 were summarized.

It was noted that during the period under review, work was carried out on the development of physical culture and sports. Turkmen athletes, demonstrating high results at major competitions, won 36 medals in October. Thus, over the ten months of the current year, the tally of the national teams of Turkmenistan has increased to 590 medals.

Having heard the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of further improving the activities of the spheres of science, education, healthcare and sports, instructing the Deputy Prime Minister to raise the qualifications of education employees to an appropriate level, improve the activities of the healthcare system, and develop sports.
