On August 1, in the dead of the night in Ashgabat, the contests of weightlifters of weight category up to 69 kg were completed at the Olympic Games in London. Student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism Daniyar Islamov represented Turkmenistan there.
Weight category up to 69 kg, where twenty-year old Daniyar had to appear at the Olympic Games, was the most numerous. 24 champions of their countries, Europe, Asia, World, and Olympic Games fought for medals in it. Among them, one of the youngest was our sportsman. It is quite pleasant that in such group of stars, our compatriot showed good results.
In the first approach in the snatch, D. Ismailov took a weight of 140 kg. In the second approach, he also excellently fixed 145 kg. In the third approach, he broke his personal record – 150 kg. But he makes a small technical mistake, which doesn’t allow holding the heaviest weight over the head and completes the performance in the snatch with the second result in group B.
In the second exercise – jerk – Daniyar also successfully coped with the weight of 160 kg and then, 165 kg. In the third approach, our sportsman tried again to break his personal record – 170 kg, but failed.
All in all, D. Ismailov repeated in overall his own achievements – 310 kg, which was demonstrated at the last junior world championship in Venezuela and having won the 13th place, took the lead over 11 athletes, including silver prize-winner of the Beijing Olympics Dabai Tienchu from France and champion of Europe and silver medalist of the World Championship of 2009 Arkel Mirzoyan from Armenia. Besides, in the snatch, Daniyar entered into the group of six strongest athletes. This fact testifies about great potential of our sportsman. As specialists affirm, he will succeed in sport.
In several hours, in the next gym of the exhibition center of London ExCeL, one more student of the school of high sport mastery – student of the National Institute of sports and tourism Serdar Hudaiberdiyev represented Turkmenistan in the boxing ring.
According to the lot, in the first fight at the Olympics in the weight category up to 64 kg, the rival of S. Hudaiberdiyev was Kumar Manoj – one of the famous Indian boxers. Three years ago, at the international tournament in India, they met with each other and our sportsman gained the upper hand over him.
Also this time, Serdar started the fight very actively and in the first round, he wasn’t worse than rival. After the first gong for a minute rest, the referees fixed the drawn game – 2:2. But, in the second round, the boxer from India scores, fighting more efficiently. Unfortunately, in the final three-minute round, our compatriot failed to eliminate the lag.
Three more our sportsmen should appear at the Olympic Games in London: on August 3, Mansur Rejepov will appear on weight lifting stage in the weight category up to 85 kg, and runner for 100-meter distance Maysa Rejepova and hammer thrower Mergen Mamedov will compete with the strongest athletes in the Olympic stadium.
