The aspects of intensifying the cooperation in economics and trade were discussed at the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan high-level talks that took place in Ashgabat. The sides highlighted the role of the joint Intergovernmental Commission in developing and expanding the range of traded products, and encouraged the intensification of its work.

The mutual trade turnover thrives on forward momentum, which is evidenced by the indicators for 9 months of the current year that are ahead of the similar indicators of the past year.

There is a positive tendency to cooperate in various fields, including agriculture, construction and industry. Turkmenistan is interested in collaboration with Azerbaijan in the area of high technologies, which is especially important in the context of global processes leading to digital economy.

The sides also mentioned the potential for cooperation in the energy sector. In this regard, the Turkmen side stressed the importance of regional integration that opened up good opportunities for establishing the diversified system for export of energy and for the joint access to international markets.

There are good reasons to intensify the ties between business structures of the two countries, specifically across small and medium-sized enterprises.
