Turkmen delegation participates in the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the ECO

Turkish Anatoly hosted the 24th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the countries of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). Turkmenistan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister of the country Vepa Hajiyev, the website of the Foreign Ministry informs.

Reports of the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Husrav Noziri and ECO Secretary General Hadi Suleymanpur have been listened to in the beginning of the meeting. The chairing of the organization was handed over from Tajikistan to Turkey and further discussion was under the leadership of Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavushoglu.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged the views on work carried out for implementation of the ECO Perspectives until 2025 as well as made proposals on activation of cooperation on the Eco space and beyond its borders. Contribution of the Organization to support of global and regional stability and security has been noted.

Perspective of joint projects in energy, transport, industry, communication and science has been reviewed separately.

In his speech, Vepa Hajoyev noted that Turkmen side considers economic cooperation, which is built on the principles of parity of interest and mutual respect, as a key factor of stable regional development.

The ECO has been founded in 1985 for activation of multidimensional cooperation between Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the members of the ECO since 1992.
