An exhibition devoted to International Neutrality Day is currently on view at the Museum of Fine Arts. It features paintings, arts and crafts.

A pictorial carpet, ‘Rovach’ (Prosperity), crafted by People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Ada Gutlyev is seen as a metaphor for the exhibition’s theme. It depicts a dun-colored foal born on the first day of 2019, designated in our country as “Turkmenistan – A Land of Prosperity”. Every single nuance of the artfully made carpet is imbued with dynamics and expressiveness.

On display is a painting symbolically entitled ‘Toý’ (A Feast) by Toymamed Esenmamedov. Hospitable women making delicious treats occupy the foreground of the painting. Joyous and lively open-air celebrations provide a dramatic backdrop for the festive cooking.

The exhibition also features a painting by Polat Garryev, Ashirmukhammed Kuliev and Ovez Laylykov, showing architectural landmarks of white marble-clad Ashgabat. The laconic poster-style painting places special emphasis on the meaningful context and scale.

Merdan Kakabaev’s painting ‘Ak Bugday’ invites the viewer to time travel to the distant past. The work is reminiscent of a still-life painting that brings together wheat seeds, ancient grinding tools, cooking utensils, and delicious freshly-baked traditional flatbread...The centerpiece of the painting celebrating the Turkmen nation’s history and traditions, is the Anau Mosque’s portal.

Valentin Kudryashov’s ‘The Health Footpath’ really impresses with its grand scale and color palette. The artist has managed to convey in his painting the great admiration and awe inspired by scenic views of the Kopetdag foothills. Emerald-green hills splashed with ruby-colored tulips, azure blue skies laced with clouds, a flagpole with the Stage Flag flying proudly on top – poetic and emotional details expressed in the artist’s realistic and impressionistic manner.

A sculpture ‘Dance of A Djigit’ by Aleksei Shchetinin vividly conveys precise and well-honed movements of the vigorous dancer evoking a festive, cheerful mood.
