Construction of Mary State Power Station – Herat powerline launched

Launch ceremony of important phase of the project of construction of TAP powerline, Turkmen part of high-voltage powerline Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan, was held in Mary Velayat.

According to the Resolution signed by the Head of the State on January 24, the Ministry of Energy has entered into agreement with the TAPP-500 Power Transmission Line FZE, which is a subsidiary of Turkish Çalik Holding A.Ş. (Turkey), on construction of 220 kW power line on Mary State Power State – Herat (The Islamic Republic of Iran) until Turkmen – Afghan border.

Profile Vice-premier Charymyrat Purchekov, Head of Çalik Holding Ahmed Çalik, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the country and foreign specialists, heads and personnel of regional administration and residents of the velayat took part in the event.

As is known, ground-breaking ceremony of foundation of new energy bridge took with participation of the Heads of the states and governments of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India place in February 2018. At the same time, the construction of Afghan part of TAPI gas line and TAP fibre optic line has been launched.

In addition to energy provision of all infrastructural provision of this pipeline, future power line will give opportunity to export electricity to Pakistan and other South Asian countries via Afghanistan.

It was highlighted at the ceremony that construction of TAP powerline would give strong impulse to economic development of the region, will support solution of the issues of social and humanitarian character.

The works at this part of TAP powerline are planned to be accomplished in August 2021.
