A concert poetically and meaningfully entitled ‘Love like a Dream’ and devoted to women took place at the Turkmenistan Cinema and Concert Hall on the evening of March 7. A band of musicians led by Vladimir Mkrtumov performed songs declaring love and wishing well to ladies.

The song ‘An Extraordinary Woman’ sung by Dovran Shammyev, Alexander Kochetov and Sharif Khojam set the lyrical mood for the rest of the evening of music with its moving lyrics.

A performance of the song ‘The Girl is Mine’ turned into an improvised singing ‘battle’ between the two charismatic singers Dovran Shammyev and Alexander Kochetov. After a few songs, their musical ‘rivalry’ continued in ‘She is Not Yours’ sung in Russian.

Performed by Nury Nuryev, ‘Nostalgie’ (‘Nostalgia’) captivated the audience with the expressive vocal cantilena, arousing strong lofty sentiments.

An unexpected surprise awaited everyone at the concert when Alexander Kochetov premiered his song ‘In the Northern Shackles’ he had dedicated to his wife Lubov, who was present at the concert. The song, a soul-stirring dialogue between the two loving hearts, was received with rapturous applause from the audience.

As Vladimir Mkrtumov noted, the concert program had been specially designed to appeal to both young musically interested girls and older women alike. It also included songs from the repertoire of Muslim Magomaev, Soso Pavliashvili, Alexander Serov, and the band A-Studio…

The evening of music, imbued with a sense of springtime renewal of life and sincere feelings, was brought to a close with the song ‘Love like a Dream’. A quartet of singers delighted everyone with their original, wonderfully expressive and vocally impressive interpretation of the hit song.

Introducing the instrumentalists to the audience, apart from the now-famous musicians Igor Shevtsov (bass guitar) and Timur Oraev (percussion), Vladimir Mkrtumov acquainted with talented solo guitarist Baky Amanmuradov, who had just made his debut and whose guitar playing added color and extra sparkle to the evening of music.

Everyone agreed that the magnificent and electrifying concert given by maestro Mkrtumov and his creative and talented band was no doubt a wonderful gift and an unforgettable experience.
