Turkmen specialists hold online meetings with UN and WHO experts

The 23rd meeting of the Target Group on the health aspects of air pollution was held under the chair of the World Health Organization in frames of the UN Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution. The representatives of the United Nations specialized agencies accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan took part in the videoconference meeting.

Experts discussed the results of recent scientific research in this area and the Target Group work plan on the implementation of the updated long-term strategy of the Convention, which outlines priorities for 2020-2030.

Specialists of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan held a videoconference meeting with WHO experts at the UN Office in Ashgabat.

The agenda of the online meeting was the measures to further prevent the penetration of the coronavirus infection COVID-19 into the country and joint laboratory studies with WHO.

As emphasized, the World Health Organization is ready to provide its achievements in this important area to Turkmenistan, and Turkmenistan, in turn, is ready to share its experience in preventing the penetration of the virus into the country, undertaken on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
