The parties discussed the issues of interstate cooperation with the focus on our country’s partnership with the regions of the Russian Federation. In particular, the meeting participants considered the implementation of the agreements, achieved during a working visit of the Minister of Industry and Construction, S. Berdimuhamedov to St. Petersburg in February this year. The Turkmen delegation got acquainted with the work of a number of industrial enterprises and construction companies in the region, and bilateral documents were signed.
In February, 2020, the representative delegation headed by Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov visited Ashgabat. The Road Map on cooperation between the governments of Turkmenistan and St. Petersburg in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields for 2020-2025 was adopted on the outcomes of the talks. The document defines the next steps for the development of mutually beneficial partnership in priority areas.
Currently, St. Petersburg companies actively work in Turkmenistan in such areas as design and construction of road transport infrastructure, antimud slide protection facilities. There are new opportunities for cooperation in the spheres of industry, shipbuilding, technology and innovation. During the current meeting, specific steps were identified to enhance cooperation in the fields of transport, construction and construction industry.
Given the difficult situation on a global scale, the parties paid special attention to the intensification of the international scientific dialogue in the fight against the pandemic. In this context, the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan to create the Council of medical scientists in order to popularize effective mechanisms of scientific diplomacy was presented.
