Priorities of Turkmen – Norwegian dialog are the subjects of online meeting

The Foreign Ministry of the country hosted online meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Turkmenistan Ole Johan Bjørnøy and Special Representative of Norway for Afghanistan Per Albert Ilsaas.

The diplomats noted commitment of two countries to further development of Turkmen – Norwegian relations in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian fields as well as exchange the views on activation of contacts on high level.

Having confirmed similarity of positions regarding regional and international agenda, the sides discussed the main directions of cooperation under international structures, in particular under the UN.

In this context, importance of timely political consultations and support of relations between foreign departments of two countries has been noted and positions in combating against coronavirus pandemic have been presented.

Special focus has been made on contribution of neutral Turkmenistan, which provides support to the processes of peace and security protection in Central Asian region.

In this regard, Norwegian diplomats have been informed about the government policy and foreign initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on establishment of peace and stability in neighbouring Afghanistan, making of necessary conditions for successful social and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The sides reviewed opportunities of trade and economic relations, establishment of contacts between business circles of two countries. Aspects of cooperation in educational, health protection, scientific and cultural spheres have also been discussed.
