Turkmen delegation took part in the 86th session of the CIS Economic Council, which was held in video conference format. Exchange of views on social and economic situation of the Commonwealth country members and possible joint measures on mitigation of negative impact caused by COVID-19 pandemic, were the main subjects of the agenda.

During video conference, the participants have been informed about the situation in Turkmenistan, which economy is functioning in normal mode and where stability of macroeconomic situation is remaining. Sufficiently high and stable economic growth of 6.2 percent is provided. At the same time, the country responds rapidly on external challenges and adapts the changes of economic conditions.

Number of measures are taken at present in fiscal and budgetary, monetary and crediting spheres, which are able to mitigate the impact of foreign factors on development of the key sections of the economy. In this regard, assessment and forecast of development of branches and budget until the end of the year has been made at the request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Additional sources of financing, especially for non-government sector of the economy, which companies have suffered from the suspension of business relations and activity (transport sphere, tourism, services), are looked for.

It is important that food safety of the country is mainly provided by cultivation and make of own production of agricultural complex. At the same time, the export of non-hydrocarbon section like textile, vegetables, mineral fertilizers, building materials has been increased.

Understanding the gravity of the situation in the world, which was caused by coronavirus pandemic, Turkmenistan is fully aware of the necessity of provision of sustainability and stability of trade and economic relations between the states, viability of transport communication, which is specially highlighted by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Turkmen leader stands for the enhancement of the role of scientific diplomacy and in this aspect, our country has proposed to review the opportunity of development of Special Programme of expert exchange between the countries, including between medical facilities on share of practice of combating against COVID-19 pandemic.

Information about work for opening of exhibition and trade centres of the CIS states on the territory of the National Economy Exhibition in Moscow has been presented at the 86th session of the CIS Economic Council, which was broadcasted to the building of the Ministry of Economy and Finances. The Action Plan of implementation of the Strategy of provision of transport safety at the territories of the members of the Commonwealth of Independence States during transportation in international communication in 2020 – 2025has also been approved.

Number of documents, which includes the Action Plan of implementation of the Concept of Cooperation of the CIS country members in prevention of oncological diseases in 2020 – 2024, Information on implementation of the Concept of formation and development of intellectual property market of the CIS members approved by the Consular Decision of the CIS Heads of the governments on October 28, 2016, document on cooperation of the CIS country – members in veterinary sphere, has been adopted by the outcomes of online meeting.

Next, 87th session of the CIS Economic Council is planned in September this year.
