Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hadjiyev held an online meeting with Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia, Ryszard Komenda, and UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Elena Panova.

As reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties exchanged views on cooperation in the development and monitoring of the National Action Plans in the field of human rights. In this context, the activities of the Interdepartmental Commission on ensuring the fulfillment of Turkmenistan's obligations on human rights and international humanitarian law were discussed.

The parties focused on the Joint Action Plan of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Implementation of International Commitments in the Field of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and the UN Office in Turkmenistan for the 2nd half of the year.

The meeting participants discussed the work of the National Program Officer of the UN OHCHR within the UN Office in Ashgabat to coordinate interaction between the regional office of the OHCHR and the Government of Turkmenistan.

Moreover, the parties focused on the comprehensive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
