On the initiative of Turkmenistan and with the unanimous support of the UN member states, the 75th session of the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution “The role and importance of a policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development”.
The document recommends all member states, UN organizations and other international, regional and subregional organizations to use the potential of neutral states and mediation in the peaceful settlement of disputes, prevention and resolution of conflicts and welcomes the decision of the Government of Turkmenistan to host an international conference on peace, security and development dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality - 12 December.
The 47th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) adopted the Resolution “The role and importance of the policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development in the region of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and in the world”.
The Resolution emphasizes that the implementation of the policy of neutrality contributes to strengthening international and regional stability, plays an important role in developing peaceful, friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the world countries.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also called on all OIC member states and its institutions to take an active part in the High-Level International Conference "The role and importance of the policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development ", held in Ashgabat on December 12, 2020.
Thus, the constructive foreign policy strategy of neutral Turkmenistan, which is actively implemented under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in frames of important documents of the UN and the second largest international organization, the OIC again received global support.
