The Turkmen-Chinese business forum was held in the Fang Fei hall in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. It brought together the cabinet ministers, the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-China Commission for Cooperation, heads of ministries and departments, large enterprises and companies and entrepreneurs from the two countries.
The fact that this business meting is timed to the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the People’s Republic of China gave a special status of the business meeting aimed at specifying main fields of Turkmen-Chinese partnership at the new historical stage, identifying further practical steps to implement the potential for cooperation on a long-term basis .
As is known cooperation with the People’s Republic of China is a priority of the policy of the Turkmen state that actively promotes mutually advantageous bilateral relations with this world’s power in a wide spectrum of fields. Viewing each other as a strategic partner, Turkmenistan and China are building up the experience and potential of cooperation through implementing joint projects in key areas of the economy.
The business forum became an opportunity for Chinese partners to learn about the current macroeconomic situation and investment climate in Turkmenistan. A film about Turkmenistan’s modern achievements demonstrated before the forum presented a panorama of the ongoing ambitious reforms which laid the foundation for the country’s integration in the world economy and opened up vast opportunities to enhance international cooperation.
The Co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-China Commission for Cooperation, Vice Premier B. Hojamuhammedov and Vice Premier of the PRC State Council Wang Qishan presented the overviews on the results of long-term fruitful cooperation in the priority areas, including particularly the economic, trade, scientific and technological spheres and the short-term action plans.
The 21st-century project, the Turkmen-China gas pipeline, the longest energy route on the Eurasian continent was implemented through this mutually beneficial collaboration. Contacts in such spheres of partnership as the construction and transport sectors, delivery of equipment and machinery, introduction of advanced information and telecommunication technologies are fruitful as well.
It was noted that the two countries had made significant progress in intensifying bilateral partnership in recent years, and the Turkmen-China top level talks in Beijing would enable to take a new step to facilitate this process.
Underlining the tremendous potential of the Turkmen market and the favourable investment climate in the country, Chinese partners reaffirmed that they were interested in implementing new joint projects, particularly in the energy sector.
The adoption of scientific and technological advances and innovative technologies was mentioned as a priority area for collaboration along with the fuel and energy sector the interest in which was conditioned by abundant hydrocarbon resources of Turkmenistan that had earned the reputation of being a dependable and trustworthy partners as well as China’s rapid economic growth. This is what Turkmenistan relies on pursuing the comprehensive strategy for modernization of the national economy, and in this regard the experience of Chinese large companies could be helpful. This fact was spotlighted in the reports of representatives of the China National Petroleum Company, LENOVO and other companies and firms.
A substantive exchange of views focused on cooperation between Turkmen and Chinese private enterprises given that fact that the share of the private sector in the GDP in Turkmenistan steadily grew due to the effective state support.

Cooperation in the tourism sector was deemed very promising given the ongoing ambitious project of the Avaza national tourism zone and the plans for health resort infrastructure development in the country.
