A new step to promote fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Estonia became the first Turkmen-Estonian Business Forum, which took place at the Mizan Business Centre in Ashgabat. Greeting forum participants, the Estonian Prime Minister highly evaluated the bilateral dialogue, which had been offered a new impetus to develop these days, and underlined the effectiveness of the meeting with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which had focused on major aspects and prospects for Turkmen-Estonian cooperation.
The distinguished guest emphasized that economic interstate collaboration at the present stage was characterized by increasing dynamics being conditioned to a larger extent by the Turkmen leader’s balanced and constructive foreign policy. It was noted that our countries had established political collaboration, including within the authoritative international organisations such as the United Nations, and the time had come to foster business economic cooperation.
In this regard a critical step became the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and industry of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Estonia which laid a firm foundation for partnerships in the bilateral format as well as within cooperation of Turkmenistan and European Union member states. Another important document creating new incentives for bilateral economic cooperation and collaboration between the business communities of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Estonia was the Convention on the elimination of double taxation ad prevention from income tax evasion signed at the governmental level.
The transport and communications sectors were mentioned as the most promising field of cooperation given the transit potential of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Estonia that have the favourable geopolitical location and diversified transport infrastructure.

Turkmenistan is interested in attracting investment in the national economy, developing railway, motorway, sea and air transport network, logistics, tourism and entering the Estonian market where Turkmen manufacturers could find their niches exporting petrochemicals and petroleum products and many other competitive commodities, including textiles, carpets, etc. Business contacts in the tourism sector are deemed to be particularly promising due to the ongoing ambitious project of the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian seashore.
Trade and economic cooperation between the private sectors of the national economies opened up vast opportunities. An effective mechanism for fostering collaboration between businesses should be international exhibitions, fairs, conference, business forums conducted at a regular basis.
The vectors of further collaboration were discussed during bilateral meetings between Estonian guests and specialists of Turkmen ministries and departments and members of the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan that, in opinion of experts, would give positive results in the near future.
