The performance of the Turkmen chess player, master of sports Saparmyrat Atabayev has completed with “bronze” success at the World Chess Championship among juniors. It was held in Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates). The result of our sportsman particularly strikes, taking into account the number of participants in his age group up to 14 years old – 193 chess players from over 120 countries.
The contests were held on Swiss system in 11 rounds. In the course of them, the Turkmen resident suffered no defeat, having completed 7 games in his favor and 4 games - in a draw. Having accumulated 9 points, Saparmyrat gave a way to the winner – chess player from China Di Li only 0.5 points and competed with silver prize-winner – Milan Zajich from Serbia: only coefficient of ratio separated the Turkmen resident from the second. Bronze award added in rating of our sportsman 42 items, having determined 2245 points for Saparmyrat. Now, only 55 items separate the young Turkmen chess player from qualifying standard “master of FIDE”.
Saparmyrat showed not bad result in quick chess game as well. Here, he has shared 2-6 places, having accumulated 7 points from 7 and giving a way to his opponents on coefficient of ratio only.
S. Atabayev has tens of medals gained at the international sport arena. Among them, it is worth mentioning the gold award gained in the last year at the World Chess Olympics taken place in Turkey in age group up to 16 years old.
Saparmyrat also leads in quantity of victories on the national sport arena. To date, he is already sixteen-fold champion of Turkmenistan in various age groups (absolute record among juniors). It is also worth mentioning that S. Atabeyev – the ringing champion of Asia: pupil of the Honored Coaches of Turkmenistan Aydogdy Atabayev and Orazly Annageldiyev (international grand master) became the best in “rapid” section (25-minute games).
S. Atabayev trains at Ashgabat chess sport school of the city sport committee. At present, he prepares for the national tournaments, which will become one of the preparation stages for main chess event of 2014 – World Competition on this kind of sports. The best chess players of the planet will gather in August in the Norwegian city – Tromsö. In September, the national team of Turkmenistan will compete for medals of the Asian Games to be held in Inchon (Republic of Korea).
