Sphere of mutual interests – the traditional Chinese medicine

Delegation of Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine at the head of Chancellor of the higher educational establishment Su Anlong has met with the teaching staff and students of the State Medical University of Turkmenistan, having discussed the prospects of cooperation.

In spring of this year, within the framework of official visit to People’s Republic of China, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine, where it was held solemn awarding ceremony of the head of Turkmen state with the title of Honorable Professor of this higher educational establishment. Making a speech of gratitude, the head of Turkmen state called to the development of close bilateral contacts, particularly, between State Medical University of Turkmenistan and Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine, exchange of scientific methods and experience.


As Chancellor of Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine Su Anlong noted, the establishment of mutually beneficial relation of medical higher educational establishments of two countries is the result of agreement of the leaders of China and Turkmenistan to develop the Chinese medicine in Turkmenistan, enrich the medical specialists of your country with knowledge about possibilities of medicine of Chinese people having centuries-old history.

- In spite of intensive development of medical technologies, many people are strongly attracted by traditional medicine, being based on natural medicinal drugs, methods of treatment, which proved the efficiency during centuries. Moreover, they have minimum side effects if to compare with modern medicinal preparations. Besides, for several diseases appeared not long ago, for example, pancreatic diabetes, the modern European medicine has no maximum efficient treatment, but the traditional Chinese has.

Our country also pays great attention to the study of national medicine and particularly, medicinal plants. Your esteemed president wrote a book devoted to them. It is wonderful basis for us to conduct scientific researches on application of medicinal plants, growing in Turkmenistan, in prevention and treatment of diseases.

Our greatest wish is to construct in Turkmenistan the Center of Chinese medicine, which will have several functions. First of all, it will become the Center for treatment of various diseases. It will be also the center for training. On its basis, it will be possible to train the specialists on traditional Chinese medicine. And of course, it will become the Center of partnership of our medical higher educational establishments - Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine and State Medical University of Turkmenistan. One of important trends will be mutual cooperation while holding of fundamental and applied researches.

Su Anlong also said that Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine is ready to receive annually thirty Turkmen students.

Training in this higher educational establishment is conducted on following specialties – the Chinese medicine, pharmaceutics, and production of medicinal drugs. Teaching is realized in the Chinese, English, German and Russian languages. But, as Mr. Su Anlong underlined in talk with students, in order to master fully the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine it is necessary to know the Chinese language, because, it keeps the philosophy, which drastically differs the Chinese medicine from European.

University has four clinics fitted with the latest medical equipment, where over six million persons pass course of medical treatment annually. Here, the students have an opportunity to undergo the practical training. One of development goals of the University is the creation of platform for international exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, search of possibilities of its integration with modern medicine. Besides programs of exchange of students, the University realizes joint research projects with educational and research institutes from 23 world countries.
