On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdyeva received letters of credence from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus in Turkmenistan Mr. George Kasoulides.
During the meeting emphasis was placed on the continued commitment of neutral Turkmenistan to the principles of peaceableness, openness and broad international cooperation. The plenipotentiary representative was briefed on the ongoing ambitious national development programmes and projects in the social sphere in particular.
Mr. George Kasoulides noted that the Republic of Cyprus took a keen interest in the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan and viewed them as an impetus to enhance cooperation.
A focus of the talks was the multifaceted activities of Mejlis. The proposal to establish direct inter-parliamentary relations was put forward during the meeting.
