The Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Turkey Commission for economic cooperation held its fourth meeting in Ashgabat. A high-level delegation of the Republic of Turkey led by Minister of Economy Mr. Zafer Caglayan had arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the meeting. Turkmenistan was represented by the cabinet ministers, heads and specialists of the ministries and departments concerned.
The agenda of the first day focused on the wide range of issues regarding bilateral cooperation to be promoted in such priority spheres as the fuel and energy, agricultural, water, construction and textile sectors.
During the meeting emphasis was placed on the mutual willingness of the two countries to diversify and intensify dynamically developing Turkmen-Turkish relations built on the profound experience of positive long-term partnership. Underlining the fruitfulness of the meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that focused on the current state and prospects of trade and economic partnership, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Zafer Caglayan expressed belief that the Commission’s activities would promote mutually advantageous cooperation. On behalf of the members of the Turkish delegation the guest expressed gratitude to the leader of the Turkmen state for providing support to Turkish companies which had been operating in our country for many years as well as those seeking to work on the promising Turkmen market.
In a businesslike atmosphere the Commission members considered the progress in implementing bilateral agreements and exchanged views on the ways to enhance Turkmen-Turkish partnership. The tourism sector was mentioned as a promising field of collaboration besides the traditional spheres of business cooperation. In this context it was noted that the vectors of cooperation included development of modern tourism infrastructure, including in the framework of the ambitious project of the Avaza national tourism zone that was of increasing interest to Turkish businessmen.
A focus of discussions was the ways to step up cultural, scientific and educational contacts as an essential component of interstate relations.

The Turkmen-Turkish Business Forum brought together the Co-Chairs and members of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Turkey Commission for economic cooperation and representatives of the Turkish companies at the Mizan Business Centre in Ashgabat.

The reports spotlighted the profound potential of the Turkmen market that was conditioned by the favourable geopolitical location of Turkmenistan and the open door policy facilitating an inflow of foreign capital in the attracting potential of the Turkmen state.
Representatives of the private sector of Turkmen economy took an active part in the forum. In this regard it was noted that cooperation between small and medium enterprises was deemed to be quite promising due to advanced equipment and technologies offered by Turkish partners.
