The festive celebrations took place throughout the country on occasion of the national holiday "A Drop of Water - A Grain of Gold" that is widely celebrated in Turkmenistan on the first Sunday of April. Thematic exhibitions were arranged in museums and libraries in the country, scientific conferences and seminars were held scientific and research institutions of the Academy of Sciences and the Agricultural complex of Turkmenistan. The International Conference on the on the Important Aspects of Efficient and Effective Water Resources Management and Environmental Preservation took place at Mizan Business Centre in Ashgabat. Within the framework of the programme of the international conference, forum participants visited the Turkmen Lake Altyn Asyr. The Interstate Commission for Water Coordination held its 66th session at the Agricultural complex of the country.
The banks of the Karakum River was the main venue of the festive celebrations.
The exhibition of the agricultural products, the state-of-the-art equipment and technologies was arranged within the framework of the festive programme. The regional subdivisions of the water industry of the country showcased the draft designs of water facilities, biological methods of cleaning water, etc. High-performance equipment produced by the world leading manufacturers that regularly replenish the modern fleet of the water industry of our country was also demonstrated at the exhibition.
Folklore groups from all regions of the country arranged colourful show. The colorful exposition of works of sculptors, painters and jewelers, including well-known masters and young talents, reflected the Turkmen people's careful treatment of water.
Young Turkmen sportsmen arranged festive demonstrative performances on the bank of the river.
In the framework of the holiday, all those present took part in the ceremony of planting young trees in the new park on the banks of the Karakum River.
