International theatre forum closed in Mary

The closing ceremony of the IV Theatre Conference of Member States of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) took place at Kemine State Drama Theatre in Mary Velayat.

The art forum became one of the brightest events in the programme of activities, marking the status of Mary as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2015. The conference and meeting of theatre directors from TURKSOY Member States gave an opportunity to discuss the current trends and development prospects of theatrical arts of the Turkic peoples, their role in preserving national languages and cultures and passing on historical and cultural heritage to the generations to come.

A focus of discussions was the aspects of cooperation within international festivals and forums, implementation of joint art projects, popularization of the rich Turkic culture worldwide, exchange of experiences, etc. Detailed information on the large scale work undertaken in the country to promote culture and theatre arts was presented to foreign guests.


The ‘practical’ part of the forum was held at Kemine State Drama Theatre in Mary Velayat. A diverse palette of theatre arts of the fraternal peoples was presented on its stage. The productions by Sabir Amutbaev Menzelinsk Tatar State Drama Theatre from the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Ankara State Theatre from the Republic of Turkey, Nurmukhan Zhanturin Music and Drama Theatre from Mangistau region of Kazakhstan were sold out for every performance. The programme of theatrical productions included the production by Kemine State Drama Theatre from Mary Velayat. Thus, the spectators had the opportunity to see the best works by actors, stage directors and playwrights, performed by several theatre groups on one stage.

Those speaking at the closing ceremony emphasized the important role of the forum in further consolidating creative efforts for the name of peace, creation and progress.
