Held on the initiative of the Central Council of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the first briefing brought together local entrepreneurs, students and teaching staff of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was also attended by representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The meeting participants were introduced to the basic principles and essential characteristics of entrepreneurship, and were offered a guide to starting a business as exemplified by successful local private businesses. Speaking at the briefing were directors of private enterprises, including Yigit, a business company growing greenhouse tomatoes, and Abadan Khaly OJSC, a carpet manufacturer.

The two enterprises are the country’s leading producers that keep the domestic market well supplied with their products, while making efforts towards import substitution and widely exporting abroad.

Businessmen offered the briefing participants insights into core elements of a successful business, defined main criteria for its development and key factors in achieving competitive advantage for private companies in modern market-based environments. The entrepreneurs also focused on the first steps towards starting a business, the importance of a business idea, its good timing and originality, and effective ways of promoting a start-up company. The event attendees were shown videos giving an overview of the enterprises’ manufacturing processes.

Speakers at the event also included representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, who highlighted the all-round state support provided to private business.

The enthusiastic students, in their turn, bombarded the entrepreneurs with information-seeking questions and received informative answers to them. Their questions revolved around product advertising campaigns, product promotion in home and foreign markets, money management in business, and obtaining purpose loans, among others.

According to the organizers, the meeting took place in a very positive, constructive atmosphere with lively discussions. Importantly, it produced the desired results and achieved its objectives. The next briefing that will bring students and entrepreneurs together again is scheduled for the second half of this month. Students from different higher education institutions in the capital will be invited to attend upcoming briefings.

The Central Council of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs organizes various events for young people on a regular basis. This helps to tackle modern-day tasks of finding talented, creative and committed young people, and actively engaging them in the country’s scientific, socio-economic development. Working with young people and providing full support to their initiatives are priority objectives of the state youth policy and the State Program on Youth Policy for 2021-2025.
