Russia’s oil company Tatneft has launched a tubing repair bay in Balkanabat offering services to Türkmennebit State Concern and other companies in Turkmenistan. The services include cleaning operations, disconnecting and connecting coupling joints, inspections and tubing thread cutting, hydrotesting, marking and final inspections. At present, the repair bay has a capacity of up to 12 oilwell tubes per hour; it can be increased twofold, if necessary, without any extra capital costs.

Repair work on service and production tubing allows reducing investment costs, using idle assets in oil production, increasing the time between repairs in oil wells by reducing the number of leaks.

Citizens of Turkmenistan, who were employed to work at the repair bay, received special professional training.

The tubing repair bay is a new step towards expanding the range of services delivered by Tatneft in Turkmenistan. For several years now, the company has been rendering workover and production enhancement services to oilfield workers in Turkmenistan, as well as repair services for electric submersible centrifugal pump units. Exploration activities and technological improvements in oil wells have enabled Türkmennebit to produce over 300,000 tons of oil.

This year, Türkmennebit State Concern and Tatneft Public Joint Stock Company concluded an additional services agreement for the provision of production enhancement services for oil wells in the Goturdepenebit Production Division oil fields. The new agreement confirms the companies’ joint commitment to working together until 2028 and taking advantage of Tatneft’s production enhancement technologies as part of the efforts to further develop the rich Goturdepe field. During the next few years, specialists of the company are expected to improve the productivity and efficiency of 250 oil wells, using modern oil field equipment, automation and teleautomation systems. This will allow Turkmen oil industry workers to additionally produce hundreds of thousands of tons.

Tatneft is one of the largest oil companies in Russia. Its activities include crude oil and gas production, crude oil refining, production of petrochemicals, tire production, power supply, operation of a chain of retail gasoline filling stations, manufacturing of oil and gas field machinery and equipment, and oil and gas field services.
