On March 22, the Expo Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a fashion show to present Turkmen designers’ Spring Summer 2021 collections. The spectacular and eagerly-anticipated event was held as part of an exhibition showcasing products and services by domestic businesses. 

Fashion designers of the Ashgabat-based Fashion House, Mähirli Zenan and Gül Zaman Fashion Houses presented their new collections. 

Event attendees, among whom were foreign guests – representatives of the diplomatic corps, were treated to a parade of original evening gowns, casual outfits, sportswear, and a trendy children’s clothing line. The collections were obviously inspired by rich traditions, rhythms of renewal and vibrant colors of the Turkmen springtime. 

Practically all the garments were made from locally sourced natural and eco-friendly fabrics. A diversity of styles, bold combinations of colors and patterns, classical and folk motifs, casual fashion trends and exquisite designs were enormously appealing to the audience. 

We had the chance to talk with supervisor of a group of models from the Ashgabat-based Fashion House Gennady Stulnikov. When asked a question, “How do creations by Turkmen designers transform women in your opinion?” he answered briefly, but meaningfully: “Our designers’ outfits add a touch of beauty and happiness to their lives!”  

I would like to say that not only did the fashion show showcase the achievements and development tendencies in the Turkmen fashion industry, at the heart of which is the perfect fusion of ethnic styles and trends in the world of fashion, but it also gave the audience aesthetic enjoyment of the original blends of colors and patterns, eye-catching ornamental motifs, shiny, gently-flowing silk and elegant panne velvet, whose beauty was enhanced by delicate silver jewelry.
