Master of Sports from Turkmenistan Rustam Annaberdiyev is among 6 strongest weightlifters in the weight category up to 89 kg at the Asian Championship, which is held these days in Tashkent.

9 sportsmen from 8 countries competed for medals in this non-Olympic category.

In the first attempt, the fourth grade student of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports has confidently lifted declared 159 kg. However, he could not manage 163 and 165 kg in the following attempts.

In clean and jerk, the student of the Coach of highest sport skills Meretguly Sahetmyradov was also able to use only of three attempts, having lifted 192 kg in the second trial, in the result, Rustam Annaberdiyev has lifted 351 kg (159 and 192), having lost 12 kg to 2019 Vice world and Asian champion Ali Miri (Iran) and 16 kg to 2019 Asian champion and two-time winner of the IWF World Cup 2019 Yu Dong-ju (The Republic of Korea) who was the fourth.

Sarvarbek Zafarjonov (Uzbekistan) was a bronze winner in this weight category lifting 368 kg (166+202). Nurgisa Adiletuly (Kazakhstan) has won silver with 372 kg (169+203). Rio de Janeiro Olympic champion, silver medalist of London Olympics, two-time world champion Kianoush Rostami (Iran) lifted 373 kg (167+206) and won gold medal.

The next set of medals at Asian Championship in Tashkent will be contested among women in non-Olympic weight category up to 81 kg, in which Turkmenistan will be represented by Aysoltan Achylova.
