Intelligent fights were held not only for the title of champion, but also for the right to be in national major sport league, which were awarded to the top eight athletes.

In autumn, in the capital of Azerbaijan – Baku, it will be held the 42nd World Chess Olympiad, which will host about 2 thousand participants from 175 countries. The composition of contenders for a place in the national team of Turkmenistan also includes eight strongest athletes of current championship of the first league.
Games of the tournament were held in a particularly acute and uncompromising struggle. Among the participants, there was no clear leader. Almost all of games were conducted until victory final and only in rare cases, the rivals agreed on a draw. Therefore, before the final round, several chess players pretended at once to the title champion.
Zohre Astanova, Leila Muminova (both from the team of Lebap province) and Jeren Ovezova (Ashgabat) – athletes, who came forward, having accumulated before the final stage of games 8 points each. The fate of the first place in the final round was decided by the meeting of representatives of the eastern region of the country, where Z. Astanova won difficult but beautiful victory, leaving her rival -L. Mominova only the third step on the podium.
The second place was gained by FIDE master Mayagozel Babayeva from the team of Mary province. It was quite unexpected, since before the final round, she was only on the fourth position with seven and a half points. Director Mary specialized athletics sport school M. Babayeva went for broke in the final game, which has become the longest in the championship (about 4 hours), and eventually, having won a victory over Aknur Ishankuliyeva of Lebap province.
In addition to the three best chess players in the current championship of the country, the composition of the national major league of Turkmenistan also included Jeren Ovezova (4th place), Aynur Isayeva (5th place), Bibihanapiya Odayeva (6th place) and sisters Merjen (7th place) and Maya (8th place) Yalkanovs. Now, they have to prepare for the championship of the Premier League to be held in April in the capital Specialized chess and draughts school. As a result of this tournament, it will be formed the female group of the national team for participation in the World Chess Olympiad.
