On June 3, on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, Esteemed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in a mass bicycle ride.

World Bicycle Day, established by the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the initiative of the Esteemed President, has been widely celebrated in our country. As a result of the personal example of the head of state and the creation of all favorable conditions for physical education and sports, healthy and active lifestyle principles became the basic ones for the people of Turkmenistan.

With the launch of the mass bicycle ride by the Esteemed President, all its participants began to act in unison. Healthy and active lifestyle principles help the people to fully realize and implement their potential. Our esteemed President confirms it by his personal example and inspires our compatriots, especially our youth, to great goals. As a result of the far-sighted state strategy implemented under the leadership of the Esteemed President, the physical education and sports movement are widely popularized in Turkmenistan at present period.

During the bicycle ride, the Esteemed President noted the necessity of keeping the issues on improvement of ecology of the city and turning of it into a blossoming garden, keeping of parks, which are the most visited places of citizens and guests of Ashgabat, in the normal condition, and further increasing of social level of cities of the country under the strict control, giving concrete instructions to Cabinet Deputy Chairman Durdylyyev, who supervises Ashgabat, and khyakim of Ashgabat city Gylyjov on further ensuring the ecological well-being of the capital.

The participants of the bicycle ride included children raised in the Döwletliler Palace who controlled the bicycles presented by the Esteemed President. The adoption of the United Nations resolution declaring June 3 as World Bicycle Day in 2018 testifies to the importance of the initiative put forward by the esteemed President.

The bicycle building, which has become a unique attraction of our capital, has become a clear symbol of this holiday. In this wonderful building, the rich history of our dear people and its great achievements in the new era, the peace-loving policy based on the permanent Neutrality Policy of our country, the caravan of cyclists in multi-colored sports uniforms continued on the wide streets of Ashgabat. Recognized as one of the most beautiful and livable cities in the world, known as the Pearl of Asia, the magnificent architectural complexes of the Turkmen capital have been complemented by white marble structures this year. In a few more years, a multi-faceted Ashgabat City complex will be built in the northern part of the capital a city within a city basis.

In accordance with its high standards, Ashgabat, which is an active political, business, cultural and social center of Turkmenistan, has also become a major sports center in recent years. Thanks to the efforts of the esteemed President, who has embarked on an innovative strategy in the field of sports development, a strong and modern multifaceted structure has been formed in the capital. A unique multi-purpose Olympic village has been built and is operating successfully in the capital. It also includes a covered bicycle track. This facility fully complies with the requirements for all indicators, including technical specifications.

In this regard, it is worth noting that last year the Esteemed President was awarded the highest award of the International Cycling Association as a symbol of recognition of his services in the promotion of cycling in our country.

This award is presented to distinguished individuals. It should also be noted that in 2018, the multi-purpose training course for cycling was held at the Ashgabat Multipurpose Stadium. There was also a long-running regular bicycle ride in the Olympic Village.

These events have been included in the Guinness Book of World Records. It should also be noted that modern sports facilities have been built and commissioned in all regions of the country.

On the instructions of the head of state, appropriate programs have been developed and adopted in Turkmenistan aimed at the rapid development of this system, the training of high-level athletes.

When it comes to cycling, it should be noted that the program activities carried out in Turkmenistan to promote this sport have concrete results.

As the leader of the nation noted, the weather and existing facilities allow for holding cycling competitions and trainings throughout the country. The expansion of international cooperation and the exchange of experience with foreign partners in this area will help to further encourage and develop this sport.

Thus, the active participation of the Esteemed President in mass sports events showed the importance not only of the events themselves, but also of all projects related to the protection and promotion of health, improving the quality of life of the people.

The Esteemed President finished the bicycle ride at the Government building. Masterfully overcoming the distance, the Leader of the Nation once again demonstrated how much systematic physical education and sports mean for physical health and all-round improvement of a person.

Continuing the movement, the participants of the mass bicycle ride proceeded to the Aşgabat Monument, located along Magtymguly Avenue.

Appearance of World Bicycle Day in the calendar of the United Nations was evidence of the high appraisal and recognition of the Esteemed President’s contribution to the development of the physical culture, health and sports movement, the improvement of the ecological culture of society in the national, regional and global dimensions.

In the state policy of Turkmenistan, ecology is defined as one of the priorities, with which economic and social strategies are closely linked. This factor is an integral part of the comprehensive reforming and sectoral programs being implemented in our country, large infrastructure projects designed to provide optimal conditions for the life of our citizens.

As noted by the head of state, health and sports, ecological well-being and sustainable development are closely linked concepts.

In order to strengthen healthy and active lifestyle principles in the society, concern about the environment, Esteemed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov started the tradition of holding the bicycle rides, which unite thousands of our compatriots, great initiatives, as well as useful traditions.

Thus, the celebration of World Bicycle Day once again became a clear manifestation of the unity of our society, the commitment of the people of Turkmenistan to the humanitarian values based on the state policy of our national leader. Under the wise leadership of the Esteemed President, our Independent, permanently Neutral Homeland is confidently advancing towards new creative goals and high heights.
