Graduate students of Cinema and Television Department of Turkmen State Institute of Culture defended their diploma theses. Young directors have presented 12 auteur films, which were made throughout entire educational year, to the examination board.
Mentor of the graduates, sound operators, director and Honorary Artist of Turkmenistan has told about these short films are about and what inspires the youth to create.
- Each film has its own unique history. Young people were looking for the stories of their works everywhere but the life itself is the best source of inspiration for young men and women. National culture, its routes and heritage raise keen interest of the students. Therefore, there are works dedicated to Turkmen folklore, movie and TV actors, traditional music instruments and art of bakhshy as well as to the General Museum of the country among presented short films.
National cuisine has also been mentioned. Graduate Kerim Nepesov has dedicated his film to the main dish on Turkmen table – ‘dograma’. In order to find out all details of cooking and original recipe of ‘dograma’ soup, he went to Mary to make the film.
Auteur film of Gulmurat Gulliyev is dedicated to Ahalteke horses. The film narrates about how special features of breeding of ahalteke horses are preserved and new equestrian complexes are built.
- The themes of the films are very different, - Sapar Mollaniyazov continues. – They cover wide layer of cultural heritage from jewelry to national headdress – «kurte» gown. At the same time, the students have managed to highlight the interweaving of historical and modern age. Personally, I liked the work speaking of studio of phorgapher Muhammed Amanmammedov. Every time walking by the studio of original artist, my student has decided a film how Muhammed manages to cultivate unique plants in urban environment making an oasis of nature in the city center.
Young directors are yet to have graduate exams, but the first step has been made already. Diploma theses of future cinema and television specialists have been appreciated by the examination board. All short films are stored in in the archives of the education facility.
