A festive concert in Ashgabat

A concert of cultural and art workers, held at the Palace of Assemblies, became one of the brightest festive events marking National Flag Day of Turkmenistan.

The guests of the bright musical show included the heads and deputies of Mejlis, cabinet ministers, heads and specialists of military and law enforcement agencies, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, ministries and departments, public organisations, higher educational and research institutions, the media, the elders and students.


One of the main ideas of the concert, held in the Year of Reverence for Heritage, Reforms in the Motherland, is the unity of the nation around spiritual values, the continuity of the best traditions of national art. The programme of the concert included the songs from destans, ethnographic performances that reproduced the national traditions and customs carried through centuries, lyrical vocal, musical and choreographic performances that reflected the heroic history of the Turkmen people.


The musical and theatrical show based on folk legends aroused the greatest interest among spectators. Soloists and folk groups told in the language of music, songs and dances about the people’s dream about a sovereign state that had come true. Artists presented in a creative way the process of weaving the carpet with the image of the National Flag of Turkmenistan on it. Modern technologies and state-of-the-art devices amde this performance as well as other compositions particularly expressive.


Loud applause became a well-deserved reward to popular singers –winners in the national art contests. The experience, artistry and aspiration for creative search were combined together in the performances of young participants, each of which captured, delighted and fascinated the audience with their talent.


According to the tradition, the ancient ritual dance kushtdepdi – some kind of symbol of indestructible links between epochs and generations was performed at the end of the show.

The festive events marking National Flag Day of Turkmenistan were held in towns and villages throughout our country, at cultural centres and on open-air concert stages, where folk dances and wonderful songs, glorifying the sacred symbols of the nation, the new historical epoch, were performed.


The culmination of the celebrations in Ashgabat was the big concert held on the square with the flagpole, on which the giant banner – the Flag of independent Turkmenistan was flying. Famous ensembles, popular singers and musicians, folk groups and young talents –winners in the prestigious art contests performed for citizens and guests of the capital of Turkmenistan.

The celebrations ended in the colourful fireworks that illuminated the sky over Ashgabat with thousands of bright lights.
