The schedule of performance of Turkmen sportsmen in the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo has been determined. The national team of Turkmenistan is represented in the Games by nine sportsmen in four sports - weightlifting, judo, swimming and track and field athletics (hammer throwing).

Our athletes start in the Olympic Games in Tokyo on July 25. This day, the representative of Turkmenistan judoist Gulbadam Babamuratova will act in the weight category under 52 kg. The competition in this discipline will begin Sunday morning with 1/16 finals.

From July 24 to August 2 will pass competitions in swimming (pool) where for the distance of 100 and 200 metres on the back Merdan Atayev will take part. For our sportsman qualification will begin on July 25 (100 m) and 28 (200m).

In swimming by breast stroke for 100 metres Turkmenistan is represented by 19-year-old Darya Semyonova. Qualification for this discipline will take place also this Sunday.

The first competitions in track and field athletics will take place on July 30. Competitions in throwing of hammer among men in whom our Mergen Mammedov will take part, will pass on August 2-4 at the National stadium of Japan. Qualification for the Turkmen sportsman will begin on Monday and a final round - on Wednesday.

The tournament in weightlifting starts on July 24 and will end on August 4. In the complex «Tokyo international forum» the first of ours weightlifters Christina Shermetova in the weight category under 55 kg on July 26 will act. And on July 27 in the weight category under 59 kg will act Polina Guryeva.

On July 31 Rejepbay Rejepov will protect the honour of Turkmenistan in the weight category under 81 kg. Turkmen weight-lifter Ovez Ovezov on August 3 will compete in the weight under 109 kg for prize-winning places. The master of sports of international class of Hojamuhammet Toichiev will act on August 4 in the weight category over 109 kg.
