The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released its latest World Economic Outlook report presenting global and regional economic growth projections, Sputnik Tajikistan reports.  

In particular, global economic growth is projected at around 6 percent in 2021.

Growth forecasts for the Middle East and Central Asia region have been revised upwards, although more modest growth rates are expected than those for the global economy. IMF experts estimate that GDP in the region will rise by 4 percent in 2021, with a growth rate of 3.7 percent forecast for 2022.  

The report indicates that forecasts for the Middle East and Central Asia have been reviewed due to high economic activity in some countries, like Morocco and Pakistan. 

GDP growth in Turkmenistan reached 6.1 percent in the first six months of 2021.
