Four hundred jobs have been created in new greenhouses opened this year by the country's entrepreneurs. The area of new plots for growing crops has increased by 35 hectares. Innovative technologies make it possible to grow more than 11 thousand tons of vegetable products per year on these sites.
The number of new production facilities included six modern greenhouse farms, built by entrepreneurial structures in all velayats of the country. In the Kaahka etrap and the Ak Bugday etrap of the Akhal velayat, the agrarians of the Oguzÿoly IP and Daskömür enterprise began to grow tomatoes in greenhouses. In the Balkan velayat, modern high-tech equipment and innovative methods of plant care have been mastered by Sapardurdy Naliev. More than 170 greenhouses are under construction with a total area of over 1,683 hectares. Another 16 farms are planning to begin construction of shelters with a total area of 122 hectares this year.
Greenhouse farms of Turkmenistan provide the domestic market with fresh vegetable products all year round: varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, strawberries and some other crops. The export potential of Turkmen agricultural producers is also growing. Tomatoes, which are grown in greenhouse conditions in Turkmenistan, have become one of the country's key export commodities, gaining great popularity in the CIS market. For seven months of this year, private producers exported more than 51 thousand tons of tomatoes worth 56.5 million US dollars outside the country, which is twice as much as for the same period last year. The taste qualities of greenhouse products were appreciated by consumers of the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates and other countries.
