Winter crops sowing campaign started in Turkmenistan on September 3. With the blessing of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the important agricultural campaign was launched simultaneously in all velayats of the country.
According to tradition, having offered a prayer to the Almighty for the sending down a generous wheat harvest, the elders gave rise to the sowing campaign. Throwing the first seeds of winter wheat into the well-prepared ground with the words "Her bir dänäň müň bolsun!" (“Let every planted seed grow into an ear!”), the aksakals and their young assistants passed on the symbolic torch of the sowing campaign to machine operators.
This year, winter crops will be sown on 690,000-hectare area. In 2022, it is planned to harvest 1.400 million tons of grain, including 400.000 tons in Ahal velayat, 345.000 tons in Mary velayat, 310.000 tons in Lebap velyat, 265.000 tons in Dashoguz velyat and 80.000 tons in Balkan velyat.
As part of the agrarian reform, specific measures are taken to digitize the industry, introduce the latest technologies and innovations. Significant investments are directed to the construction of modern agro-processing enterprises, elevators and mill complexes, factories for the production of mineral fertilizers.
Moreover, within the framework of the programmes on the socio-economic development of the country until 2025, the National Rural Programme approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, large investment projects are implemented in the country with the aim to radically change the life of a Turkmen village.
On the occasion of the beginning of sowing campaign, seminars with the participation of representatives of regional and etrap hyakimliks, heads of peasant associations, agronomists, machine operators, tenants-grain growers, as well as the elders were held at the Üzümli toprak Peasant Association of the Ak Bugday etrap, the Ahal velayat, the Goç Peasant Association of the Serdar etrap, the Balkan velayat, “Turkmenistan” Peasant Association of the Gubadag etrap, the Dashoguz velayat, the “Vatan” Peasant Association of the Chardzhev etrap, the Lebap velayat, and “Turkmenistan” Peasant Association of the Vekilbazar etrap, Mary velayat.
The exhibitions of products manufactured by enterprises of the agro-industrial complex of the country, and the latest technology available in the agricultural industry were organized. On the occasion of the start of the sowing campaign, song and music ensembles and folklore groups prepared a concert programme.
