A delegation of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As reported on the website of the Turkmen customs department, the visit took place within the framework of the bilateral Agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters, signed on November 21, 2022 in Abu Dhabi.

The delegation met with officials from the Federal Customs Authority of the United Arab Emirates. Director of the Department of International Customs Relations Soud Alagrubi spoke about the activities of the Federal Customs Administration, the accumulated experience in implementing the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) program. In this regard, the parties considered the issue of cooperation on mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operators. Representatives of the UAE proposed a draft Action Plan for further development of cooperation in this area.

Turkmen specialists also visited Dubai customs, the Jebel Ali seaport and the Dubai Customs Academy.

Representatives of the Jebel Ali seaport familiarized the delegation with an innovative radioactive scanning system for vehicles, which is used to inspect, check cargo vehicles and containers. Due to its high penetrating ability, the contents are thoroughly checked without causing damage to goods and food products, while identifying prohibited items. The system is capable of scanning 150 trucks per hour, moving at a speed of 8-15 km/h.
