A fountain in a shape of the Caspian Sea was opened in Astrakhan

A Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan (Russian Federation) Guychgeldy Garayev took part in the event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Association of State Universities of Caspian Sea Region Countries.

On the occasion of this date the fountain in a shape of the Caspian Sea was opened after restoration in the territory of the Astrakhan State Technical University (ASTU), where the head office of Association is located. The fountain presents a symbol of friendship of the State Universities of Caspian Sea Region Countries (Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Azerbaijan). It will become a landmark both on the campus and Astrakhan.

In the solemn ceremony participated the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan Region Dmitry Ovchinnikov, senator of Council of Federation Gennady Ordenov, consuls of Iran, Kazakhstan.

In ASTU was also held a round-table conference “Cooperation of the higher educational institutions of the Caspian Sea region: 25 years of the strategic partnership”, in the course of which the participants discussed the extension of cooperation, new projects and prospects in improvement of education quality.

It is worthy of note that in the beginning the Association of State Universities of Caspian Sea Region Countries included 9 higher educational institutions, and today it is comprised of 50 scientific and educational organizations.
