The specialized United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has launched the  online inquiry for new data collection about the world’s languages.

These data collection efforts are fostered to elaboration of the innovation and interactive tool - UNESCO’s World Atlas of Languages, which will cover over 8 thousand languages of the world. The Atlas, which envisages multiple aspects related to use of languages, is aimed also at the activation of coordinated activities on conservation, revival and progression of languages to promote their equal representation.

Within the framework of investigation, the specialized organizations and associations, and the representatives of the language communities are offered to share exact data about their languages till 1 October, 2021.

Being the part of the liabilities and contribution of the organization in the promotion of the language diversity and multilingualism, UNESCO has elaborated the complex methods of assessment of the language diversity state all over the world. UNESCO operated with governments, partners and experts for data collection about the world languages and now it calls up all world societies to assist in this process. Your participation will help us to learn more about your language, to make contribution in the making of new solutions for support of the world languages.

The online inquiry «World Atlas of Languages» is available in English, French, Russian and Spanish.
