Saudi Arabia supports construction of TAPI gas pipeline

Saudi Arabia supports the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. Saeed Osman Ahmed Sweid, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Ashgabat, said in his article published on Neytralnyi Turkmenistan newspaper on the occasion of the Saudi National Day.

The diplomat noted that “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shares with Turkmenistan the vision of the importance of global energy stability and diversification of energy supplies to world markets through large-scale projects such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline”.

« the Kingdom is cooperating in this direction and supports this ambitious project, as it will have a significant positive impact on economic and social development», – stressed the Saudi ambassador in the publication.

Construction of TAPI gas pipeline of total length of 1814 kilometers and of total capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year, has started in December 2015 in the territory of Turkmenistan. The project gained approval of Russia, USA, a number of other world stated, and international financial institutions, in particular, Asian Development Bank.
