Recently, I had the luck to see first just finished unusual picture of the famous Lebap artist. It even yet was not taken under especially strong glass for safety and consequently it was convenient to photograph it.
On a special black dense paper of a squared shape with white substrate on which after birth intention, it has been transferred the sketch, and with needle in a literal sense it was scratched a picture. All it consisted of a strict combination of set of points, and without drawing of apertures. It is possible to judge laborious and difficult work on such production by fact that Alymjan Ishankuliyev worked at it about half a year. The given genre is called gratography, and the master working in it does not have right for the mistake as, unlike painting, here it is impossible to revise incorrect movement of hand.
The artist from Lebap is the only in Turkmenistan, who works in this direction today. He studied in art gratography from Alexey Nikolayevich Kinyakin in the year of his education at the Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan and since then, he created tens works in this difficult genre deprived of polychromy.
His new work is called “Turkmen hunting” and is specially created for the present vilayet creative competition in honor of the Turkmen Horse Day. On this canvas, it was depicted tugai bank of Amudarya and riding at full speed three horsemen. It was expressively and laconically transferred the expression, compositionally set and demonstrated all kinds of national hunting with use of horses, hunting falcons-lachins, hound dogs of tazy breed and bow with arrows. Especially impresses skill of the first equestrian which at full tilt, having lowered reins, aims in the flied up pheasant. The artist has specially blacked out the left lower corner of production - there, in bushes, the female of a pheasant hides in nest. It is clear that the horsemen carried away by a pursuit, lachins and tazy will be carried by, and the bird will not be touched, can bring posterity, having filled up the rich nature of the ancient Turkmen land.
Alymjan Ishankuliyev inspired by the glorified racers has created a whole series of works about Akhalteke racers. They are also depicted in his productions on historical themes. On one of them – Govshut khan full of courage strains to be in action on a dashing racer. And on the contrary, there is another work, where the well-known fellow countryman of Lebap people - the poet and soldier Seyitnazar Seydi has thoughtfully sat down on river bank, composing verses, and near with him the true four-footed friend carefully decorated with an elegant harness …
