The President of Kazakhstan will pay a state visit to Turkmenistan on October 24-25

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay a state visit to Turkmenistan on October 24-25. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov spoke about the preparations for the state visit of the Kazakh leader at a government meeting via video link.

The Minister noted that diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries were established on October 5, 1992, and today the juridical base of bilateral interaction is 120 documents.

According to R.Meredov, Ashgabat and Nur-Sultan constructively cooperate in the format of international and regional organizations, providing each other with mutual support. In particular, the Republic of Kazakhstan co-authored 16 UN General Assembly resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan. The Foreign Minister also stressed the building up of trade and economic partnership, where an important role is assigned to the activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission.

In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the development of relations with the countries - closest neighbors, including friendly Kazakhstan, is one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign political strategy.

The Turkmen leader noted that the similarity of the sides' positions on such issues of the regional and global agenda as ensuring peace, security and stability are a solid foundation for effective interaction in the international arena.
