Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, being on a working visit to Istanbul to participate in the 8th Summit of Heads of State of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (Turkic Council), held a meeting with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Warmly greeting each other, the leaders of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss in person the key issues of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation, which is also successfully developing in a multilateral format, within the framework of regional and international organizations. This is clearly evidenced by the participation of the head of Turkmenistan in the current Summit of the Turkic Council.
Having exchanged views on the cooperation state and prospects in the context of the existing impressive potential and plans for the future, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed the commitment of the parties to further strengthen productive cooperation that meets both mutual interests and the goals of well-being in the regional and global dimension.
During the meeting, the heads of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey also exchanged views on topical issues of regional and global problematics, emphasizing the intention of the parties to continue constructive partnership within the framework of reputable international organizations. At the same time, it was noted that Turkey fully supports the policy of positive neutrality pursued by our country and the creative initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader aimed at ensuring universal peace, security and progress.
In this regard, the agenda of the 8th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states was touched upon. The interlocutors expressed confidence that the decision on Turkmenistan’s accession to this Organization in observer status will promote the further progressive development of effective interstate cooperation in a wide range of areas.
At the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed the continuing commitment of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey to friendship and full-scale cooperation, wishing each other health and success, and well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of both countries.
