Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov within the framework of participation in the 8th Summit of Heads of State of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (Turkic Council), held in Istanbul.
After exchanging warm greetings, the heads of the friendly countries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet again and personally discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of international organizations.
During the meeting, the interlocutors noted that at the present stage, interstate political, diplomatic, economic and cultural relations are actively developing on the basis of the principles of equality, mutual respect and good neighborliness. An effective partnership with the Turkic-speaking states, with the peoples of which we are united by the commonality of historical roots, cultural and spiritual values going back thousands of years, is a clear proof of this.
Focusing on the agenda of the 8th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, the interlocutors expressed confidence that the decision to join Turkmenistan to this Organization in observer status will give a new impetus to the expansion of international partnership in the political, economic and cultural fields.
During the meeting, the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic discussed the directions of bilateral cooperation, taking into account the existing prospects and modern realities. Among the priority vectors were named the trade-and-economic sphere, energy, etc.
The sides highlighted the importance of the Intergovernmental Turkish-Kyrgyz Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation, emphasizing the significance of holding business meetings that promote the establishment and activation of productive contacts, particularly between the business circles of the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sadyr Zhaparov, once again emphasizing the inviolability of traditionally friendly ties between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, addressed wishes of peace, well-being and prosperity to the peoples of both countries.
