Turkmenistan in a new issue of the Caspian oil and gas memorandum

The new issue of the "Caspian Oil and Gas Memorandum" published on November 14, which traditionally reports on the most significant events in the oil and gas industry of the Caspian countries, devotes a significant place to the Turkmen topic. The October 2021 review contains information on the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the head of the large ARETI holding Igor Makarov, at which were discussed the prospects for cooperation in the development of the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea. It is noted that the businessman presented relevant proposals for consideration by the head of state, emphasizing the interest in their implementation by the huge potential of Turkmenistan and the favorable investment climate in the country. For his part, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recalled that contractor companies in the territory of Turkmenistan must first of all apply the latest technological solutions, as well as prevent violations of environmental safety standards.

In the October 19 talks between the President of Turkmenistan and the head of the Russian company Lukoil, which was named the generator of the main Caspian oil and gas news in October in the Caspian Oil and Gas Memorandum, the sides discussed topical areas of bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Having informed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about the activities of Lukoil in Turkmenistan, including the progress of projects in the Caspian Sea, the Russian businessman stressed his interest in expanding cooperation with Turkmen partners.

Among the promising areas of cooperation were the radical modernization of the oil and gas industry, the increase in production and processing capacities, the diversification of routes for the export of Turkmen energy resources to the world market. It was noted at the meeting that a memorandum of understanding signed in January of this year between the governments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on the joint development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostluk (Friendship) field in the Caspian Sea opens up new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership.

As a major event of the past month, the "Caspian Oil and Gas Memorandum" marks the XXVI International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2021" (OGT-2021) held on October 27-28 in Turkmenistan. The review says that the conference brought together representatives of more than 150 international companies, including such energy giants as CNPC, PETRONAS, LUKOIL, DRAGON OIL, SOCAR, ARETI International Group, Yug-Neftegaz Private Limited, as well as heads of energy organizations, representatives of large international financial institutions.
