Choral societies of Turkmenistan and Armenia held a joint

The choral societies of the National Conservatory of Turkmenistan named after Maya Kuliyeva and Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas organized the joint online-concert.

Thus, the student’s choir of the National Conservatory of Turkmenistan under the direction of the choirmaster, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan, Associated Professor of conducting department Kurban Babayev and the State Chamber Choir of Armenia «Over» under the direction of the Honored Worker of Arts, rector of the Yerevan State Conservatory Sona Oganesyan masterfully performed famous works. In particular, compositions of Tchaikovsky, Mozart, «Dutaryn ovazy» to music of Danatar Ovezov and «Pray» from opera «Leyli and Mejnun» sonded.

The student’s choir of NCT sang songs «Ýuzüňden» and «Gözüm düşdi», finishing its part of the concert program with the compositions of Alexander Arutiunian «Cantata about the Motherland» «Zazdravnaya». In its turn, the State Chamber Choir of Armenia «Over» performed cycle of the Estonian composer Veljo Tirmis «Autumn Landscapes», English composer Gustav Holst «I love my love», 2 cycles of Komitas and Christmas song arranged by George Wyle.

Komitas can be safely called the forefather of modern national classical music in Armenia. He played a key role in the restoration of the national music. Until now, every Armenian recalls with great honor and respect the name of the great composer, which has become the hallmark of Armenia at the world level.

Music in the history of Armenia has played an important role in the formation of national identity, culture and spiritual values. The brightest and most significant representatives of Armenian classical music are Aram Khachaturian, Alexander Spendiaryan.
