Recently I received a letter from our Belarusian friend, journalist and writer, a member of the Writers' Union of Belarus, Alexander Karlyukevich. He is the person they are talking about whose life and work was associated with our country. Since in the mid-80s Alexander lived and worked in our country. And even after he left here on business, he always kept in touch with Turkmenistan and with Turkmen writers and poets.

He often came to Ashgabat as a participant in various cultural events where he could meet his Turkmen colleagues and, in order to be interested in their creative plans, at the same time told his pen friends exactly what he was doing.

Alexander Karlyukevich, in his letter, enthusiastically wrote that he had recently visited the Brest Regional Library named after Maxim Gorky. This library, despite being in a provincial city, has always been famous for its rich book fund and at the same time books in various languages, including Turkmen.

He writes that the books of Turkmen authors appeared here thanks to their visit to this provincial city on various cultural events, as well as the books of those authors whose books were at one time translated into Belarusian. So as of today, 129 titles of Turkmen authors are presented in three languages - Russian, Belarusian and Turkmen.

Among the various authors of Turkmen literature, the book of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "The Good Name is imperishable", published in 2011 by the Turkmen State Publishing Service, occupies its rightful place. In 2015 this book was published in Minsk in the publishing house “Zvyazda” in the Belarusian language.

Alexander Karlyukevich writes how he was informed by the staff of this library that Turkmen literature has always been in demand among readers and they, that is, the library staff, are proud of the fact that after the publication of the book of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "The Good Name is imperishable " became the most popular book of the inhabitants of the provincial city. And as you know, Brest the city is much national, along with Belarusians, Russians, Poles, Tatars, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Chuvash live here. In addition, about ten thousand students from Turkmenistan study in the Republic of Belarus.
