The capital hotel «Yldyz» hosted the Fifth session of Turkmen – British Trade and Industrial Council

Representative delegation including the leaders and leading specialists of 18 largest Great Britain companies such as «British Expertise International», «Aggreko», «Arempa International Ltd (FZE)», «Buried Hill», «De La Rue», «Global ATS Ltd», «Industrial Power Group», «JTA», «Rapiscan Systems Ltd», «Tensar», «Thomson Reuters», «TheCityUK» and others specialized in different spheres arrived to Turkmenistan for participation in the sbusiness meeting. The representatives of the range of industrial ministries and departments, banks, Trade and Industrial Chamber and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs took part in the forum from Turkmen side.

Opening the session, the co-chairmen of the Council stated with delight the recently observed dynamic of the development of relations between Turkmenistan and Great Britain built on the principles of long-term duration, trust and mutual benefit. Noting the present colossal potential of cooperation, the Parties expressed their solid confidence that current business meeting will directly promote the further consolidation of fruitful interstate partnership on bilateral and multilateral basis including through international organizations and the European Union.

One month ago, another round of Turkmen – British political consultations took place in the capital of Great Britain – London, where the special attention to opportunities of expansion of trade and economic relations between two states were paid.

Prior to the business part of the session, the Convention between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on increase in the capital value was signed.

Within the frameworks of the further discussions, the issues of practical implementation of the bilateral agreements achieved earlier as well as perspectives of expansion of the interstate trade and economic relations were reviewed.

The reports presented by the Turkmen specialists reflected the essence of large-scale programmes of social and economic development initiated by the Leader of the Nation, huge achievements and successes of dynamically developing Turkmenistan.

As it was mentioned, favourable geographical location of Turkmenistan, strong resource and raw material base, stable economic growth, auspicious investment climate created for foreign partners along with social and political stability in the country and prescient “open door” policy taken by Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attract foreign companies to Turkmen market, including companies from the Great Britain, which are interested in establishment of tight business relations. It was highlighted that Turkmenistan, counting on the attraction of the best world practices and innovative technologies, is always open for fruitful international cooperation and in the first turn with long-standing and time-tested partners.

In the course of exchange of opinions on the methods for intensification of traditional coordination, the members of the delegation stressed the attention on the priority directions of Turkmen – British partnership including fuel and energy complex, trade, transportation, media and communication, textile industry, sport, tourism, education and other spheres.

Recently, many British companies took part in realization of the number of large investment projects including the sphere of exploration and development of oil and gas fields, consolidation of gas export potential of the country.

Speaking of potential capabilities of their companies, the representatives of British business circles expressed their wish to strengthen their positions on perspective Turkmen market and in the future take the most active part in large-scale transformation programmes in Turkmenistan initiated by Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the happiness and wellbeing of Turkmen people and further prosperity of the country.

Cooperation in sport sphere became another subject of discussion. This cooperation, taking into account rich experience of British part in organization and holding of the largest sport events of international level, gain special currency due to V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat next year.

The participants of the session of Turkmen – British Trade and Industrial Council emphasized the importance of continuation of the practice of such business meetings on regular basis and expressed their confidence that the constructive exchange of opinions on new directions of mutual interested partnership would give strong impulse to the development of Turkmen – British dialog in trade and economic spheres.

During their stay in Ashgabat, the members of Great Britain delegation held the range of bilateral meetings with the Government of Turkmenistan where concrete measures and steps for further accumulation of mutual beneficial cooperation with the accounts of priorities and national interests of both friendly countries were discussed.
