The best traditions of French farce on the Ashgabat theater stage

The premiere of the updated version of the play "Eight Loving Women" took place within the walls of the Alexander Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater.

The production is based on the detective plot of the play by the French playwright Robert Thom. For the first time, the comedy was presented at the Edouard VII Theater in Paris sixty years ago. But, even after such a long time, the story continues to be intriguing and relevant.

On Christmas Eve, ladies of three generations gather in a country house to celebrate a family holiday together. However, the celebration is canceled due to a mysterious crime. The only man, the owner of the family nest, Marcel, was found in his office with a knife in his back. This event becomes an ideal metaphor for how the heroines' relationships will develop in the future.

Against the background of a tragic circumstance, many questions are exacerbated, the main of which, do eight women love or pretend to love one single man? And who, after all, committed the mysterious murder of the head of the family?

Each of the eight heroines tried on the role of an inquisitive detective - daughters Suzon and Katrin (Daria Selyuminova and Anna Khommadova), grandmother (Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Svetlana Troitskaya), wife of the late Gabi (Larisa Kosonogova), her sister Augustina (Alina Andronova), sister of the deceased Pierrette (Adelina Nazarova), the housekeeper of the Chanel house (Anastasia Balandina) and the maid Louise (Lyubov Emelyanova).

In the course of the development of the action, the characters of the heroines are revealed from unexpected sides. The grandmother suddenly jumps out of a wheelchair, the eldest daughter hides from everyone her “interesting” position, and the hostess of the house, it turns out, is going on a trip with her lover.

Vivid and convincing female characters are embodied by actresses in such a way that a detective story develops into a psychological tragicomedy with elements of drama.

Excellent acting and an intriguing plot immerse the viewer into the atmosphere of the performance. The audience empathizes and laughs together with the heroines, emotionally reacting to everything that happens on the stage.

Musical arrangement and dance fragments especially subtly convey the charm of French comedy, for which special thanks go to the director of the production, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Olga Volkova.

The updated version of Eight Loving Women was very warmly received by the Ashgabat audience. Applause and shouts of "Bravo!" do not subside even after the curtain is closed.
